Vegetarian Soap

The vegetarian soap recipe makes a mild soap that will lather up very well. It is a very good soap for using multiple additives.

In addition, it is a great recipe for making large quantities of soap as it works well in large, open-type molds.

This is a cold process homemade soap recipe so a little more work is required. But, it should easily make you large amounts of wonderful, fragrant homemade soap.

Vegetarian Soap Recipe

  • 42 ounces blended vegetable or olive oil
  • 30 ounces coconut oil
  • 28 ounces vegetable shortening
  • 6 ounces cocoa butter
  • 3 ounces castor oil
  • 14 ounces lye
  • 41 ounces cold water

Soap Qualities

  • Mild
  • Typically white or off-white color
  • Must be milled when damp
  • Lathers well
  • Works well with large open molds
  • Takes longer to show trailings
  • Slow to set up and dry
  • Works well with additives
